Could this situation happen if you had dissociative amnesia?

ok so a father physically abuses his daughter and then doesn't remember what he did.

the father is a really great guy besides the times he is violent

this situation happens repeatedly, say once every two weeks

does dissociative amnesia work? if not do you have suggestions for plausible mental conditions?

BTW this is completely fictional for a story i am writing, it isn't real so i don't want advice with how to deal with it as if it was happening to me. thanx :)Could this situation happen if you had dissociative amnesia?
Maybe, however, it doesn't seem very likely. Usually dissociation happens when something so horrible happens that your brain can't even process it, if it did, your emotions would go haywire, and you would have a serious meltdown, and you wouldn't be able to function in such a dire situation. The same goes for Dissociative amnesia.

It is far more likely for someone to have schizophrenia, and hurt someone , and not remember it at all, most schizophrenics I have talked to, (my parents included) remember little to nothing at all from an episode.

Dissociative amnesia usually has to be triggered by an event, it is not usually the trigger for an event to occur.Could this situation happen if you had dissociative amnesia?
I think so but i dont really know i think it could and proble is. He COULD have a little memory of hitting her or somethig but perhaps he could think it was just a dream or a weird thought. Evdence would prove else. Broses scratches broken thing ect could possible prove that something went wrong who knows....?
