Question about DID(split personality) and Amnesia?

If a person with Dissociative Identity Disorder is struck with amnesia due to an accident, though he already had DID even before he got in the accident, is it possible for his alter/s to forget something while the original personality retain consciousness?

Please explain your answer. Thank youQuestion about DID(split personality) and Amnesia?
I don't believe so. The personality disorder is a disorder of the processing part of the brain as a result of traumatic events. This causes a disturbance in the personal identity of the person. These are a psyhcological defense mechinism that protects the person from certain memories or feelings. All areas of the brain are still functional but the focus is to protect the person from psychological trauma.

With a brain injury, such as one that would cause amnesia (both are so very rare) the processes are blocked in the brain due to physical damage in most cases. The lack of memory recall isn't psychological but actual damage to the brain itself. If the damage to the brain is significant enough to cause memory loss, then all aspects of the persons memory would be affected irrelevant of the identity disorder.Question about DID(split personality) and Amnesia?
