Question about dissociative disorders?

1. is it possoble to have a dissociative disorder with out any abuse or trauma and how is this possible?

2. and out of the 5 DD's (depersonalization disorder, dissociative amnesia, dissociative fugue, dissociative disorder not otherwise specified, dissociative identity disorder) how would you order these from least worst to worst?

(i am wondering because i have been diagnosed with a dissociative disorder) thx :)Question about dissociative disorders?
1) "Dissociation is also a neurologic phenomenon that can occur from various drugs and chemicals that may cause acute, subchronic, and chronic dissociative episodes." So, yes, it does appear that there could be other causes of dissociative disorders; however, trauma and/or abuse is generally felt to account for the majority of instances.

2) As to which is least or worse - I would think that depends on how much the individual is effected. Personally, I would think having multiple personalities or multiple fugue states would be the worst, but that's only a personal opinion.

Perhaps it would help you to further discuss what your current diagnosis is with a competent therapist, and do some research on the disorders so you can be more fully informed. There are some references below to give you a start.Question about dissociative disorders?
1. Yes. You can have any brain disorder due to your genetics. Some of the disorders of because of trauma or abuse but they can just enhance an underlying problem you have or simply cause it. But it is possible to have it for no reason, its highly heritable.

2.It depends on the degree of each disorder. With amesia or fugue it is possible to never remember who you are again or return to reality. You can't really order them. It all depends on how your experience is.. You could have a mild case or a very severe.
